Today’s Gospel tells us how Jesus visited Bethany, at the home of Martha, Mary and Lazarus (whom Jesus had raised from the dead). There, Judas complained about the cost of some perfume that a woman used to anoint Jesus’ feet. In fact, Judas was stealing money from the common purse. Meanwhile, we are told in the Gospels that the religious authorities were looking for a way to kill Jesus.
